Dog Day – Go Fitness Center Columbus
The Go Fitness Dog Day started over six years ago from our members love for dogs. Many a times while here, you may overhear about the latest antics of someone’s dog. After talking so much about our pets, we came up with the idea to have a social event outside the gym with everyone’s dog(s).
Hearing so much about each others four-legged friends, we thought it would be nice to put the name with the “wag”! Not wanting to leave a non-dog-owner person out; we invited local shelters and rescue dog groups to come with their dogs and to raise money by providing dog baths and nail clippings to our members’ pooches.
We wanted to provide our members, the community and the dogs the best meeting experience possible. Visiting an animal shelter is stressful not only for the well-meaning perspective dog owner, but for the dogs too! Having an event where the dog can be outside and more themselves; while the people are on familiar turf creates an environment where a match can truly be made!
Go Fitness & Your Dog
We believe taking care of a dog or any pet is healthy. There are studies that show evidence of how pet care lowers your blood pressure, decreases depression, etc. We simply know caring for something other than yourself, playing and earning that unconditional love from your pet is of course going to be beneficial.
We like to have Dog Day in August (Dog Day’s of Summer) to give the new owners as much time with their dog outside before the Columbus winter boxes both inside.
All people are invited to Dog Day, whether you are looking to adopt or not. We’ll warn you – it is very difficult to walk away empty handed!
